…the apartment is conceived as more than a collection of functional rooms. It is designed as a comfortable and adaptable living environment that balances privacy, openness, security, natural connection, and everyday convenience.
Particular attention is given to the relationship between the interior and exterior environments. Natural light, ventilation, vegetation, shaded outdoor spaces, and carefully positioned openings are incorporated to create a healthier and more comfortable residential experience.
The apartment is organized according to a clear hierarchy of spaces.
Public and social areas are positioned to provide convenient access for residents and visitors, while private areas are more protected.
Living, dining, and kitchen areas form the social heart of the apartment, while bedrooms and associated private spaces are positioned to provide greater privacy.
Service areas are strategically located to support the main living spaces without interrupting their functionality.
Natural ventilation forms an important part of the environmental strategy.
Windows and openings are carefully positioned to encourage cross ventilation, allowing fresh air to move through the living spaces.
Balconies, verandas, courtyards, and shaded openings provide additional opportunities for airflow while creating comfortable transitional environments.
This passive approach can reduce dependence on mechanical cooling and improve indoor air quality.
The design responds to Uganda’s tropical climate through passive environmental strategies.
The building orientation, openings, roof form, shading, and landscape are coordinated to improve thermal performance.
Deep overhangs, recessed openings, balconies, and vegetation provide additional protection from direct solar radiation and rainfall.
The material palette combines contemporary architectural materials with natural textures to create a warm and durable residential character.
